MBE Hospitality Management is a third-party hotel management and hotel asset management company based in Kalispell, Montana. Our eleven services fall into three practice areas: operations and financial performance (hotel management, revenue management, sales and marketing, and accounting); asset strategy and development (asset management, acquisition and development, brand-to-independent hotel conversions, design and consulting); and specialized solutions (hotel receivership and non-profit integration).

Hotel management is the day-to-day operation of the hotel: the team, the guest experience, sales, revenue and accounting. Hotel asset management looks after the investment: capital planning, renovations and PIPs, financing, repositioning and when to sell. MBE offers both. When we provide both for the same hotel they work together, but that is different from independent third-party asset oversight.

Yes. We operate hotels, resorts and campgrounds on behalf of their owners and investors, report regularly to ownership, and work with both branded and independent properties. We also own hotels ourselves.

Hospitality starts with how we treat people and ends with paying attention to the details. We operate hotels with an ownership mentality because we own hotels too, and it shows up in the last 25 percent of the work: cleanliness that reaches the corners, grounds that are cared for, and the right insurance and internal controls. That is where a good hotel becomes a great one. We finish the job, and we report the results to owners clearly.

Eric Bahme leads MBE Hospitality Management and took full ownership of the company in 2013. He was mentored by Horst Schulze, co-founder and former president of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and was previously a partner in Lincoln Asset Management. Before that, Eric and his wife, Rita, founded Eastside Church in Portland, Oregon, which bought and renovated a run-down hotel to help fund its ministry. They moved to Kalispell full time in 2015.

Our past and present portfolio includes 21 hotels, resorts and campgrounds in Montana, Utah, Idaho, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Illinois and Pennsylvania. Current properties include Copper King Hotel & Convention Center in Butte, Montana; Hotel NoBo in Cascade, Idaho; Snug Harbor Resort & Marina in Friday Harbor, Washington; Elk Lake Resort near Bend, Oregon; and the Comfort Suites in Granbury, Texas, which we are converting to an independent hotel, Hotel Granbury. Our portfolio spans branded hotels, independent and boutique properties, resorts, convention and conference hotels, and campground and RV resorts. Many are in small towns and secondary markets, where a well-run hotel matters to the whole community, and we are equally prepared for larger select-service and full-service hotels in metropolitan markets.

MBE is led by Eric Bahme (Founder / CEO); Scott Rieke (Vice President of Operations, CHA); Skyler Rieke (Vice President of Finance, CHA); and Dale Prout (Vice President of Development). The team also includes Joe Martel (Accountant, CPA); Samantha Dodd (Controller); Nate Peterson (Director of Growth and Technology); Zach Mahon (IT Director); and George Hancock (Director of Philanthropy).
